New Affordable Housing Available to Squamish Families

Squamish Community Housing Society (Housing Squamish), in partnership with Polygon Homes, the District of Squamish, and BC Housing, is pleased to announce that applications to rent eight new homes are now open.

“Housing Squamish is thrilled to manage eight new homes in the Highline community at Garibaldi Springs. These homes will provide families who live, work and recreate in Squamish with affordable housing they need to thrive in our community,” says Sarah Ellis, Executive Director of Housing Squamish.

Located at 2050, 2052, 2054 Highline Mews, and 41225 Garibaldi Springs Way, there will be four, two-bedroom homes and four, three-bedroom homes that are owned by BC Housing and will be managed by Housing Squamish.

“This purchase showcases just one of the ways our government is taking action to create housing, repurposing land into homes for people,” said Ravi Kahlon, Minister of Housing. “Having safe, affordable housing will make a huge difference in the lives of eight Squamish families who will live here. We’ll continue to deliver homes just like these across B.C. through the Homes for People plan.”

“Housing affordability has been a key focus of the District of Squamish for 10 years and we are very pleased to have the support of the development community, the Province and our local non-profit in delivering these new homes to Squamish,” says District of Squamish Mayor Armand Hurford. “We know that providing affordable housing is critical to ensuring our community stays vibrant, diverse and with the workforce we need to continue to support a thriving local economy. We acknowledge there is still work to do, however this is a significant step forward and through continued support from the development community, BC Housing and Housing Squamish we are well-positioned to realize additional affordable units going forward.” The eight homes were secured by the District of Squamish as a community contribution and constructed by Polygon Homes.
