Squamish Valley Fire

The Squamish RCMP issued the following statement regarding a fire burning in the Upper Squamish Valley:

On April 15th, 2010, at 4:15 pm Squamish RCMP and an Integrated Police Dog Services member were notified of a slash fire which was burning out of control.  Squamish RCMP attended to the area along with notification to Coast Fire, Forestry, and other partners. 

At this moment the fire has jumped from the south side of Squamish Valley Road at Magee Road to the north side making the road impassable.  The fire is quick moving and the conditions are dry. Police are in the area conducting tactical evacuations and blocking roads.

Please evacuate areas around the fire if you can.

This is a developing situation and more updates to come.
