This extends to throughout District of Squamish boundaries and the mainland areas of the Coastal Fire Centre due to the current weather and forecast.

All current backyard campfire permits are reinstated and new permit applications will be accepted while the fire ban is not in effect. A Fire Permit is required in order to have a backyard fire. Residents may apply for a free permit online at squamish.ca/fire-permits. Permits are valid for the duration that a person lives at the registered property and annual renewal is not required.

Please be reminded that lighting a fire in any public space such as riverbanks, parks and beaches is strictly prohibited within the District of Squamish boundaries.

To report a wildfire, unattended campfire, or open burning violation, call 1 800 663-5555 toll-free or *5555 on a cell phone, or 9.1.1 within municipal boundaries.

Persons who do not comply with current fire bans within Squamish under Section 11.1 (b) of the District of Squamish Fire Service Bylaw No.2314, 2014 may be subject to a $250.00 fine as per Schedule I of the Municipal Ticket Information Bylaw No.1832, 2004.
