Safety Protocols at Council Meetings

Council meetings resume this coming Tuesday, September 7. In-person attendance is allowed at 50% capacity including members of Council and a minimal number of District staff, in accordance with the Public Health Order.

Masks are required in all public indoor settings for all people born in 2009 or earlier (12+). Presenters (delegations or at hearings) are not required to wear a mask while presenting.

Members of Council will have the option to return to Council Chambers to sit around the horseshoe with a plexiglass partition or continue to participate electronically. Staff presentations will continue to take place electronically to allow for a greater number of public attendees while there is limited capacity.

Due to limited seating capacity, electronic attendance/participation is still encouraged. All meetings are streamed live at Squamish.ca/livemeetings, and meetings/public hearings will continue to use WebEx for the electronic participation option.

Proof of vaccination after September 13

Please note the following:

There are a number of questions that we know our residents have that we don’t yet have answers to, for example, whether proof of vaccination would be required at certain public engagement events. We will be receiving guidance and seeking clarity from our regulating bodies such as Ministries, WorkSafe BC, and advisors like BC Municipal Safety Association and BC Recreation and Parks Association. We will update our information as we learn more. Wherever possible, we will continue to host engagement events with a virtual component to ensure there are no barriers to attendance.
