2026 Traffic Calming Measures

Project Status: Current

Installation of 2026 traffic calming measures under the District’s Traffic Calming Policy.

Implementation is targeted for summer/fall 2026, subject to completion of detailed design requirements at select locations.

Description:

The following locations have been identified as top priorities for traffic calming measures in 2026.

Upper Mamquam Road
The Mamquam Road, from east of Helfand Way (Village Drive), has been identified for traffic calming measures due to concerns related to speeding and a high volume of truck traffic. Proposed measures include the installation of speed tables and/or speed humps.

Skyline Drive
Skyline Drive from Garibaldi Way to The Boulevard has been identified for traffic calming improvements due to concerns related to speeding. Proposed measures include updated and additional signage, as well as the installation of a new raised pedestrian crosswalk.

Highlands Way North
Highlands Way North, between Portree Way and Greenwood Way, has been identified for traffic calming improvements due to concerns related to speeding, particularly within the school zone. Proposed measures include widening the multi-use lane, adding a buffer between the multi-use lane and travel lane, and removing the travel lane centreline to visually narrow the drive aisle while maintaining two-way traffic operations. Additional improvements include a new crosswalk south of Pentland Way to provide safer trail access, and relocation of bus stop 102809 slightly further south. Signage and pavement markings will also be updated.
