Summer Mulch Program – 2026

The District of Squamish is launching the Summer Mulch Program, a free mulch giveaway program to help residents reduce water use in their gardens.

Mulch helps retain soil moisture, reduce the need for watering, and improve soil health—making it an easy way to support water conservation at home.

The mulch program runs until September 30 or while quantities last.

How It Works

  • Free mulch is available at Hendrickson Playing Field parking lot
  • This is a self-serve, unstaffed site with 24-hour access
  • Bring your own:
    • Shovel
    • Buckets or containers

👉 Please take only what you need:

  • Maximum: ¼ yard per household (about three wheelbarrows full or 10 × 5-gallon buckets)

📌 Mulch is available first-come, first-served while quantities last.

Location

Hendrickson Playing Field
39025 Loggers Lane, Squamish, BC

(Look for signage and designated mulch pile on-site.)

Important Guidelines

  • For residential use only (no businesses or organizations)
  • Use caution when loading—site is unstaffed and conditions may vary
  • Take only what you need to help ensure fair access for others
  • It is the homeowner’s responsibility to determine if this mulch is suitable for their landscape
  • The District is not responsible for how mulch is used or applied

About the Mulch

  • For fire safety, it is recommended to put mulch at least 10 m (further if possible), away from any structures
