Housing Design Catalogue
This page provides a collection of pre-reviewed free-to-access multiplex housing designs that property owners and builders can consider for development in Squamish. These plans support housing diversity and help make it easier to build small-scale multi-unit homes that fit local neighbourhoods and current regulations.
The District of Squamish is a local government partner with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation Housing (CMHC) Housing Design Catalogue. Through this partnership, three catalogue designs have been added to the District’s list of pre-reviewed multiplex housing designs.
The District’s pre-reviewed multiplex designs include:
- Designs selected through the District’s Multiplex Design Competition
- Selected designs from the CMHC Design Catalogue
All designs listed on this page have been reviewed by the building department and are suitable for consideration in Squamish.
Key Benefits
Streamlined applications: Pre-reviewed templates can support faster, more predictable permit approvals by reducing the need for extensive design revisions and repeated technical review.
Cost savings: Standardized designs can reduce soft costs for homeowners and builders, including architectural fees, consultant time, and redesign expenses.
Zoning alignment: Designs have been reviewed for general alignment with Squamish's zoning and development regulations, providing greater certainty and reducing risky early in the process.
About the Multiplex Design Competition
The Multiplex Design Competition was hosted by the District of Squamish as an action of the Squamish Housing Action Plan and funded through the CMHC Housing Accelerator Fund. Carefully selected winning designs respond to local conditions, including neighbourhood context and flood construction levels.

All designs, floor plans, and technical packages are hosted exclusively on the official CMHC Housing Design Catalogue website. While users interested in the design competition are directed to the original designers, catalogue users may also choose to work with their own qualified professional, such as a licensed designer, architect, or engineer, to adapt a selected catalogue design to suite their specific site conditions and prepare a permit application.
