Danger Tree Removal: Brackendale

The District of Squamish will be removing five danger trees (four walnut and one alder) and limbing branches along the east side of Government Road, south of Eagle Run Drive in Brackendale next week (between the Watershed Grill and Eagle Run Village). The work will commence Wednesday April 8 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is expected to take two days. Please expect single lane alternating traffic within the immediate work zone. Some short full closures will be required when the trees come down to ensure worker and public safety.

Every effort has been made to maintain these trees, however the five identified ones have reached a point where they are a danger to public safety. This is a busy road with many pedestrians and cyclists traveling along that stretch, and public safety is paramount. The limbing and pruning work on the remaining trees is being done with the goal of trying to preserve them by improving their health and longevity. There is some new growth evidenced by at least a dozen new walnut trees growing along that stretch. Any need for re-planting can be assessed once this danger and maintenance work is complete.
