Highway 99 is currently closed in both directions due to a landslide which occurred earlier today between Lions Bay Avenue and Brunswick Beach Road. The public is asked not to travel south from Squamish if the destination is beyond Lions Bay.
There is currently no official reopening date/time.
Update (Dec 15, 6:30 a.m.):
Highway 99 has reopened in both directions at Lions Bay following yesterday's landslide incident. Crews worked through the night to clear the debris and it was reported by DriveBC to be cleared by approximately 6 a.m. Sunday morning.
Update (Dec 14, 6:52 p.m.):
Cleanup of the affected area is currently underway. It is anticipated that the highway will remain closed for an undetermined amount of time (at minimum overnight) while the debris is being cleared.
Individuals who are impacted by the closure should seek accommodations for the night. Please be advised that due to low hotel vacancy rates in Squamish, it is recommended that individuals seek accommodations or support from friends or family.
