The Low Carbon Incentive Program aims to establish a low-carbon incentive for residential construction which would see a reduction in the allowable floor area in zones RS-1, RS-1A, RS-2, RS-3, RM-1, RM-2, RM-3, RMH-2, C-1 and C-4 unless a low-energy source is chosen. The program will be in effect for relevant building projects submitted for application after December 31, 2021.
By encouraging the construction of buildings with low-carbon energy sources, the District aims to lower greenhouse gas emissions and align residential home construction with the goals of the Community Climate Action Plan while increasing energy options in home construction.
