Construction zones are neighbourhoods too

District of Squamish Building and Bylaw Departments are working together to reinforce the Building and Traffic Bylaws as a result of construction and garbage storage at some construction sites and newer subdivisions.

Construction zones and public safety go hand in hand. Please take the time to ensure that:
  • Parking associated with your site is compliant with the District of Squamish Traffic Bylaw and that sidewalks, bike lanes and any District right of ways are clear of vehicles.
  • Construction materials and garbage are stored on private property and do not encroach on to public property. This includes containers, trailers and portable toilets.
We understand that construction is a fluid and dynamic process and that it can be a challenge to be compliant at all times (i.e. when there are significant snow piles everywhere). We will make every effort to work towards voluntary compliance, however if that cannot be achieved enforcement will be required.  Please feel free to contact the Building Department with any questions.
