The next Builders' Breakfast is September 20

Sea to Sky CHBA invites all local contractors to the next Builders' Breakfast on Wednesday, September 20 from 7:15 to 10 a.m. at the Locavore in Squamish (1861 Mamquam Road). 

This session will provide a chance for contractors to gain a better understanding of air barriers, air tightness strategies, and radon with a presentation by Bob Deeks from RDC Fine Homes.

This workshop is approved for 2 CPD points and will include: 

  • The importance of your air barrier and airtightness strategies for Step Code compliance:
    • How to design for airtightness
    • Different air barrier strategies to consider
    • Airtightness is more than an airtight wall 
    • The difference between an air barrier and a vapour barrier
  • What is radon and how can you limit concentrations within the homes you build or renovate:
    • What is Radon gas and where is it found
    • Radon and the building code and changes on the horizon
    • Overview and application of the 3 levels of radon mitigation:
      • Level 1 – Gas permeable layer, soil gas collector, Radon gas barrier and Radon rough-in pipe
      • Level 2 – addition of a passive stack
      • Level 3 – addition of a Radon fan

Doors open at 7 a.m. - Come early to sign in, grab your breakfast and mingle. The presentation starts at 7:25 a.m.
