Wildlife Bulletin: Mashiter bear family update, new wildlife hotspot in estuary

The Mashiter bear family continues to move throughout their home range. The wildlife “hotspot” and leash-up area that was placed on the Mashiter trail will be removed; please remember that we are a leash-law community and that dogs should be leashed and under control, and that trail users should always be alert and aware of the wildlife.

The Jack's trail wildlife hotspot area will remain in place until further notice.

Due to two additional vulnerable black bear family units utilizing the Estuary for food, water and shelter, wildlife “hotspot” signage and leashes will be placed at two key trailheads leading into the Estuary. Please do your part to keep these bear families wild.

The District of Squamish, Conservation Officer Service and WildSafeBC would like to the thank the community for their efforts in leashing dogs and protecting these family units.
