BC Hydro Spill Notice issued for Cheakamus Dam (Daisy Lake)

11:30 a.m. - BC Hydro has notified the District of Squamish of a Spill Notification for the Cheakamus Dam (Daisy Lake) due to high inflows, and as such a high streamflow advisory is in effect for the Cheakamus River.

Rapid increase in water levels in the next 24 hours is possible. There is the potential for top of river bank flows (bankfull conditions).

Please avoid riverbanks and exercise extreme caution in this area.

District Operations and Engineering staff are closely monitoring river levels, dikes and pumps to maintain optimal performance of our infrastructure. We will provide immediate updates if there is any change in the situation that residents need to be further aware of. Stay tuned to our Facebook page, Twitter and our website for important updates.
