Have you read the Building Bylaw lately?

The District of Squamish Building Bylaw, Bylaw No. 1822, 2004 is a bylaw to regulate building construction and provide for the administration of the B.C. Building Code. If you are thinking of building within the District of Squamish, or if you have questions about why or how building is regulated within the District of Squamish, your answers are likely to be found within the Building Bylaw.

It is recommended that anyone planning to build in Squamish have a read through the 28-page bylaw, and become a familiar with some of the definitions and conditions within the document. There is also a Municipal Ticket Information Bylaw No. 1832 (see Schedule "F" on page 11) which outlines tickets that may be issued for non-compliances with the Building Bylaw.

With the pace of development in Squamish recently, Building Officials are becoming more focused on trying to ensure compliance. Help avoid potential complications by understanding the Bylaw.
