Clarke Drive and Highway 99 Intersection Improvements

Upgrades to the Clarke Drive/Highway 99 intersection are underway to provide access to the Waterfront Landing site and, in the future, to provide a second access to Downtown Squamish. The existing intersection will be modified to include a western connection to the Clarke Drive rail overpass, a new vehicle bridge crossing over the CN rail line west of the Clarke Drive and Highway 99 intersection. In order to create this western connection, upgrades to the highway lanes, signalization, and other associated infrastructure will need to be undertaken. In addition, to facilitate east-west movement through the intersection on Clarke Drive, improvements to the east side of the highway intersection will be undertaken.  These improvements include improved bike and pedestrian infrastructure, re-alignment of Clarke Drive both north and south of the intersection, and relocation of the existing informal parking area.

Impact: This work will impact all traffic movements through the Clarke Drive and Highway 99 intersection. Please obey posted speed limits and use caution in the area. Temporary carpool parking is available at a designated parking lot off of Guilford Drive and at Darrell Bay while work is underway.

Project timeline: Late 2019 – Early 2020
