Our Fire Rescue Team

Established in 1912, the Village of Squamish Fire Department had a complement of 100% volunteer firefighters from the surrounding community.

In 2023, the District of Squamish Fire Rescue employs three Fire Chiefs, twelve full time Firefighters, one Administrative Assistant, supplemented by over 50 paid on call/volunteer members. Squamish Fire Rescue serves approximately 20,000 residents in over 120 square kilometres of urban, residential, industrial, wildland, and highway interface.

On average, Squamish Fire Rescue responds to more than 1050 emergency incidents annually and works closely with partner agencies, including BC Ambulance Service, RCMP, Squamish Search and Rescue, BC Wildfire Service, Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue, Red Cross/Emergency Social Services, Squamish Nation Peacekeepers, and many more.

Our members are passionate about maintaining the safety and protection of the District of Squamish. To ensure that we provide the best service possible, we spend countless hours training, maintaining equipment, and being community ambassadors of safety.
