The District of Squamish will be upgrading and repairing select watermains as part of the annual watermain upgrade program. Please note the project sites and impacts below.
Construction dates are still being determined.
1) Birken watermain upgrade from Depot all the way to the end of Birken (north):
Replacement of the existing AC watermain originally installed in 1966 using open trench installation.
2) Powerhouse Chlorination Chamber Replacement: Replacement of the aging existing chamber, which is confined space entry for Public Works staff, with a new above ground kiosk.
3) Bill’s Place Watermain Connection & PRV: Installation of a new water main that will connect Bill’s Place to Highlands Way South and install a new PRV Station on Highlands Way South to ensure stable pressure in the water system. This project will be the final piece required to deliver industrial level fire flows to the Mamquam East Industrial Zone, fulfilling a promise made by the previous council. Construction is scheduled for summer 2025
