Night Market at the Park kicks off Downtown Squamish Summer Series

The District of Squamish has announced plans for its first Night Market at the Park, an open-air community market on Friday, August 16 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Stan Clarke Park. The event kicks off the Downtown Squamish Summer Series, a District initiative to draw residents and visitors into the streets of downtown.

Night Market at the Park will offer a selection of local food, live music and a wide range of handmade, vintage and curated goods from more than 20 participating vendors. Market goers are invited to bring a picnic blanket, explore the menus of participating food trucks and spend the evening outdoors in the "heart" of our community.

“Downtown summer programming was determined to be a ‘quick win’ to help kick start the Council’s Downtown Transformation initiative, providing additional reasons to bring people to the area, and adding vibrancy especially in the evenings,” says District of Squamish Mayor Rob Kirkham. “The excitement surrounding this first event has been really positive and we’re looking forward to building this Series into something really meaningful.”

The market will offer plenty of free fun for all ages including a pop-up playdate, face painting, games and a vintage photo booth.

Admission is free.

A second free event is also confirmed; Cinema Under the Stars will take place August 29 at 8:30 p.m. in Pavilion Park. The District has been polling residents through Facebook to determine film preference between Back to the Future, E.T. Extra Terrestrial, and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. With 57% of the votes, E.T. is the clear winner! Additional details about this event will be released soon.

About: Downtown Squamish Summer Series

The District of Squamish has hired local event producers Garibaldi Events & Design to develop a series of summer events to draw visitors and residents downtown throughout August and September.
