Standing Committees are established and members appointed by the Mayor, pursuant to the Community Charter.  Currently, the membership of each Standing Committee consists of all members of Council. General duties of Standing Committees include: reporting to Council on all matters connected with the duties imposed upon them and making recommendations to Council as well as considering and reporting upon all matters referred by Council.

The District of Squamish Committees comprise many dedicated volunteers from the local community who contribute their ideas, vision, and expertise to move important community projects forward. Some Committees have members of specific organizations who contribute their expertise and knowledge in various fields.
