District welcomes new GM

Randy Stoyko new General Manager of Community & Business Services

The District of Squamish has a new face on its senior leadership team. Randy Stoyko, a seasoned innovator and senior executive with a broad base of expertise in operations, finance and business development has joined the District as the newly defined General Manager (GM) of Community & Business Services.

Stoyko comes to Squamish with a proven ability to quickly analyze key business drivers and develop strategies to grow the bottom line. Most recently he was with the District of Sechelt where he held the position of Chief of Innovation and Growth. Prior to working in Sechelt, Stoyko was a Director with SGS, the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company, and a Director of Food Commercialization and Marketing in Manitoba. Stoyko’s vast experience across product development and innovation, marketing and business analysis spanning both the public and private sector, is a welcome addition to the District’s senior leadership team.

“I’m very much looking forward to diving into this role and have several ideas that I see the potential to implement right away,” says Stoyko. “I was attracted to this opportunity first and foremost because of the great people here – the staff comprises many talented individuals and I have been struck by the friendliness of the community. There is also great opportunity in Squamish and I believe I can bring additional focus to that. Finally, I’m an avid outdoors person and so clearly, Squamish is a great choice.”

Stoyko is an energetic leader recognized for his ability to envision and create successful outcomes in complex situations. His unique set of public and private industry experience has given him the ability to create an environment that promotes staff development, enhances process improvement, and increases customer satisfaction and effective financial management.

“I am thrilled to welcome Randy and his strong leadership skills to the District Team,” says Corien Speaker, CAO. “His experience and talents complement our senior leadership team very well and I’m very much looking forward to what he will bring to the table.”

Earlier this year the District re-focused its four GM positions to better realize the organizations goals and capitalize on its leadership strengths. This newly defined portfolio oversees the Economic Development, Real Estate Development and Recreation Services portfolios.
