“Rod’s strong leadership qualities and ability to motivate his teams to success are strengths demonstrated extensively throughout his previous experiences,” says Linda Glenday, General Manager, Development Services and Public Works. “He brings a unique perspective to important regional issues facing the District, having lived and worked in all communities within the Sea to Sky Corridor.

Most recently MacLeod was Project Manager for Venue Construction of the Alpine Skiing events at Whistler, and the Freestyle and Snowboard events at Cypress for the Olympics. He has consulted on and managed a wide range of resort projects such as snowmaking infrastructure, reservoir construction and venue construction.

The recent focus of MacLeod’s work at the District has been to bring the landfill into compliance with environmental guidelines and increase the waste diversion rates within the municipality.

Actively involved in all that the region has to offer recreationally, MacLeod brings a real appreciation for everything that Engineering does to protect the natural environment, and to offer the highest quality services to residents, now and into the future. “I look forward to this opportunity to give strong support to the talented Engineering team at the District, and to others at Municipal Hall, as the District continues to improve service to the community,” says MacLeod.

Recent departures in the Engineering Department have paved the way for MacLeod’s promotion and other new hires within the team. Greig Garland and Jenni Chancey are both moving on to new opportunities. Garland has taken a position as one of the principals with Webster Engineering and Chancey is taking a year off to focus on endurance race training and travelling.

“We are very sorry to say goodbye to Greig and Jenni and wish them all the best in their new endeavours,”says Glenday “While they will be missed, their departures present new and exciting employment opportunities here at the District as we seek out the necessary skills to round out our Engineering Team.”

David Roulston has joined the District as Municipal Engineer following several years with Opus DaytonKnight, a North Vancouver-based consulting firm. His role at the District will focus primarily on infrastructure planning and will take over where Chancey left off.

The District is currently recruiting a second engineer to replace Garland in support of Capital Projects.
