UPDATED: Wind Storm Updates and Closures
The current wind storm is resulting in significant damage, power outages and dangerous situations across the community. Information will be updated below throughout the storm.
Municipal operations
- Centennial Way/Loggers Lane underpass re-opened at 7:40 p.m. after being closed due to flooding.
- Brennan Park Recreation Centre has re-opened at 7:30 p.m. after power outage.
- Hockey programs after 7:30 p.m. this evening will run as scheduled.
- All swim lessons for the remainder of the day are cancelled. Credits for today's lesson will be put on accounts, and lesson report cards can be picked up tomorrow and onwards from the lifeguards.
- The pool will remain closed for the remainder of the day, as the pool levels will need to be checked after power outage.
- The 55 Activity Centre is open.
- Sections of the Corridor Trail are being closed for safety reasons due to the risk of falling branches and trees.
- It is recommended that residents stay clear of parks, trails and wooded areas due to the risk of falling branches and trees.
- Please report any urgent calls for service to Public Works Admin until 4:30 p.m. at 604-815-6868, or the District of Squamish 24-hours emergency operations line: 604-815-4040.
Downed power lines and outages
- BC Hydro is reporting power outages in Squamish. An outage map can be viewed here.
- Call 9-1-1 for downed power lines and stay at least 10 metres back. Visit the BC Hydro website for more information.
