Upgrades to the Discovery Trail between Madill Street and Carson Place are underway. This work will see the existing trail upgraded for all ages and abilities by adding trail lighting and paving the three metre wide surface.
The purpose is to upgrade the Discovery Trail from Madill Street to Buckley Avenue, including widening the trail to 3m, paving and lighting the pathway. The two sections of trail that are being upgraded are on either side of the newly completed trail in front of the Spirit Creek Development off Buckley Avenue. The north section upgraded will utilize the existing Discovery Trail alignment while the south section will be a new alignment from the skate park to Buckley Avenue. The south section will see new trail construction and crosswalk along Carson Avenue.
Once completed, this project will connect other upgraded Discovery Trail sections resulting in a paved and lit pathway for approximately 1.8km from Cleveland Avenue to the Business Park, and that facilitates trail use for all ages and abilities.
