BC Hydro cancels Spill Notice; High Streamflow/flood watch ended

BC Hydro cancelled its Spill Notice for the Cheakamus Dam (Daisy Lake) at 2 p.m. on November 10, 2016. Present conditions are favourable and BC Hydro is expecting the spill to drop below the notification level of 170 m3/s by 12 p.m. on November 11, 2016.

The BC Rivers Forecast Centre has also cancelled the advisory for the Squamish River.

Dry conditions over the past 24 hours have resulted in decreasing flows in the Howe Sound region. Flows are expected to continue to drop as dry conditions persist until late Thursday night.

Another storm event is forecast to arrive Thursday night bringing rainfall amounts up to 50mm, but falling at a slower rate. Freezing levels are expected to decrease through the weekend.

The River Forecast Centre will continue to monitor conditions and will provide updates as required. District of Squamish crews remain vigilant and Operations teams have been working around the clock to ensure optimal performance of the community's diking and flood control infrastructure.
