Campfire ban lifted across the District of Squamish

Squamish Fire Rescue has lifted the campfire ban across the District of Squamish effective immediately.

“With the precipitation we have received to date, the cooler temperatures and the forecast for more rain, campfires will be allowed on private property and supervised campsites,” says Deputy Fire Chief Bob Fulton.

A permit is required for backyard campfires, and campfires should be no larger than 0.5 metres in diameter and height, supervised by an adult and completely extinguished with water.

Permits can now be applied for online at squamish.ca or in person at Squamish Fire Rescue hall 2, located at 40439 Tantalus Road. Hours of business are Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. (closed between noon and 1 p.m.).

The public is asked to remain vigilant when in the backcountry and on the trails as conditions are still very dry. Uncontrolled fires should be reported immediately to 911.
