Coho Park Trails Closed For Public Safety Due to Wildlife

Update July 30 10:45 a.m. - The bear carcass has been removed, and the trails have re-opened. The second bear is likely still in the area so the BC Conservation Officer Service is warning to be cautious and keep dogs on leash while travelling through the area. Bear in Area signs have been posted.

July 29 - The Coho Park area in Garibaldi Estates has been closed due to a bear feeding on a dead bear carcass and exhibiting defensive behaviour.

Barricades and signage have been installed and will remain in place due to public safety concerns.

The BC Conservation Officer Service will be assessing the situation to determine any further action. The District will update the park/trail status as new information is available.

Please avoid the area and do not pass by barricades for your safety.
