Coordinated efforts underway to remove derelict vessel from Cattermole Slough

Work is underway on the removal of a derelict boathouse from the shores of Cattermole Slough. The Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development will be transporting the vessel from the Slough to Third Avenue where it will be dismantled and hauled away over the next several days by District of Squamish Public Works staff.

The District's Marine Action Strategy (MASt) was developed to support shared leadership in proactively addressing local marine issues such as unauthorized mooring and derelict vessels. In a complex environment with many jurisdictions and interests, this current effort highlights the benefits of coordinating with partner agencies in keeping our shorelines clean for marine ecosystem protection and the benefit of our community.
