District of Squamish 2022 Annual Report released

The District of Squamish has published its 2022 Annual Report including 2022 accomplishments, 2023 and 2024 objectives, audited financial statements and permissive tax exemptions, written in accordance with the Community Charter. The 56-page report is now online at squamish.ca/budget-financial-statements-and-annual-reports. 

“This Annual Report captures the 2022 activities of the District of Squamish staff and Council, demonstrating where we focused our efforts, how we delivered despite turbulent times, and what can be achieved when multiple entities come to the table,” says District of Squamish Mayor Armand Hurford. “Squamish is a busy place, and the Council table is no exception. We have outlined strategic objectives for 2023-2026 that will move us closer to our shared community vision for Squamish. We look forward to working with all members of our community towards achieving that vision together.” 

The Annual Report reflects the final year of progress towards the objectives identified in the District’s 2019-2022 Strategic Plan, which outlined ambitious goals to address Squamish’s biggest opportunities and challenges under four main pillars: The planet and the environment; Housing affordability and diversity; Economy and local jobs; and Neighbourhood connectivity and public spaces.  

Looking Forward, Council has now finalized the 2023-2026 Strategic Plan that outlines objectives for their term under four new pillars: Connected and Livable Community; Resilient People and Relationships; Reliable Service Delivery; and Prepared for the Future. The first two years of objectives (2023 and 2024) are featured in the Annual Report to be reported on in subsequent years.  

Identified in section 98 of the BC Community Charter, before June 30 each year a Council must prepare an annual report and make it available for public inspection. District of Squamish Council will officially accept the Annual Report at its Annual General Meeting on June 20, 2023.
