District receives $270K in grant funding for Eagle Viewing/Seaichem Reserve Dike Master Plan

The District of Squamish has been successful in receiving a $270,000 grant through the National Disaster Mitigation Program to complete the Eagle Viewing/Seaichem Reserve Dike Master Plan for diking upgrades in the Eagle Viewing / Seaichem Reserve area.

The master plan will include a geotechnical investigation, options development, community consultation, technical analysis and the production of a concept design that can be used to advance the detailed design of the dike at a later stage.

The District will be working closely with Squamish Nation to develop the master plan given that a significant portion of the dike is on Seaichem Reserve and that significant numbers Squamish Nation residents on the Seaichem and Kowtain Reserves are protected from flooding by this dike.

The project is fully funded by grants.

The National Disaster Mitigation Program provides funding to provinces and territories for projects that inform proactive disaster mitigation.
