“Investing in our current infrastructure is a key priority of Council as we anticipate the future needs of our growing community,” says District of Squamish Mayor Karen Elliott. “These upgrades will ensure Brennan Park Recreation Centre operates as efficiently as possible and will extend its service life as future expansion is planned for.”

Upgrades include:

Last year, the District invited residents to provide feedback on proposed options for the replacement or renovation and expansion of Brennan Park Recreation Centre. 81% of residents who provided their feedback chose the option to expand and upgrade the facility. The District is working on a Brennan Park Master Plan for the surrounding fields and lands, which will be developed and shaped with input from the community.

“Upgrading the existing Brennan Park Recreation Centre, versus building a new facility and demolishing the existing one, is the preferred way forward considering many different factors, not the least of which is the public input we received last year,” continues Elliott. “To that end, we continue to invest in the existing recreation centre where the upgrades are necessary for either public and employee safety, or will benefit a future expansion.”
