Flood watch remains in effect for Howe Sound

A Flood Watch issued by the River Forecast Centre for Howe Sound, including the Squamish River, remains in effect. Further periods of heavy rain are possible through until Sunday morning, and peak flows on the Squamish River may be observed on Sunday due to flows from higher elevations in the watershed. District of Squamish crews have been monitoring the situation for the past 24 hours and will continue to do so as conditions persist.

Be alert for water pooling on roads and washouts. Stay clear of the fast‐flowing creeks and rivers and potentially unstable riverbanks during the high‐streamflow period. The River Forecast Centre continues to monitor the conditions and will provide updates as conditions warrant.
