High risk construction activities banned within 10 metres of forest interface

Effective immediately, all High Risk construction and maintenance activities are banned within 10 metres of the forest interface due to the Extreme fire hazard. All other High Risk work requires a minimum two-hour fire watch after construction ceases.

The 10-metre buffer has been established by Squamish Fire Rescue in conjunction with best practices within our neighbouring communities, and the need to balance protection of the interface with the ability for low-risk construction activities to continue. Further details on construction activity restrictions are available here.

Thank you for your cooperation and diligence in keeping our community safe.

PLEASE CALL 911 TO REPORT ALL FIRES within the District of Squamish. Outside District boundaries, call 1-800-663-5555 or *5555 toll-free on most cell networks.
