Weather forecast

This current system will see a series of storm events expected to impact coastal British Columbia over the next several days. Heavy rainfall is already being observed on northern Vancouver Island, with precipitation totals in the 20-60mm range having occurred since early Monday morning. Heavy rain is expected to continue through the day on Monday and ease into Tuesday, followed by another round of rainfall on Wednesday. Periods of rapid river rises are expected through Monday. There may be a brief reprieve on Tuesday before additional river rises on Wednesday. Areas on northern Vancouver Island, Central Coast (including Kingcome River) and Sunshine Coast are likely to see the most significant rainfall and river responses through Monday.

The River Forecast Centre will continue to monitor conditions and will update the advisory as conditions warrant.
