Rainfall Warning Issued for Howe Sound

Heavy rain returns to the region on New Years Eve.

A wet start to the new year is expected. Another storm system will approach the BC Coast today. Heavy rain is expected to develop by this evening and continue through Friday night.

24 hour rainfall totals over the North Shore of Metro Vancouver and eastwards into Coquitlam and Maple Ridge are forecast to range from 40 to 60 mm. Over the Sunshine Coast, from Sechelt to Gibsons and the Howe Sound area, similar amounts are likely with the bulk of the rain falling during the day on Friday.

Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
