Special Air Quality Statement issued for smoky skies
A Special Air Quality Statement has been issued for Howe Sound due to the smoky skies from wildfire activity.
The alert includes the following guidance:
- Stay inside if you have breathing difficulties.
- Find an indoor place that's cool and ventilated.
- Using an air conditioner that cools and filters air may help.
- If you open the windows you may let in more polluted air.
- If your home isn't air-conditioned, consider going to a public place (library, shopping mall, recreation centre) that is air-conditioned.
The following air-conditioned buildings are available to residents:
- Brennan Park is open today (Sunday) until 8 p.m., and Mon to Fri from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Squamish Public Library is open Mon to Sat from 10 a.m.
- 55 Activity Centre is open Mon to Fri from 9 a.m.
- Westwinds Senior Hub is open Mon to Fri from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
