Trails access in and around Squamish to remain open; reminder to be vigilant in light of fire ban

The District of Squamish wishes to inform the community that there is no planned trail closure at this time. Any such decision by Squamish Fire Rescue within District of Squamish boundaries will follow a decision made by the provincial Coastal Fire Centre as the lead agency and subject matter expert in this area, and there is no such plan currently.

Due to the existing fire ban in effect, and in consideration of the upcoming long weekend, residents and visitors are reminded to be extremely careful and vigilant.

Authorities are vigorously enforcing fire ban legislation, including targeting persons that discard lit cigarettes from vehicles. Zero-tolerance enforcement is in effect, with violators being ticketed under the Wildfire Act.

Please abide by the fire ban for the safety of everyone.

Fires should be reported to 9-1-1.
