Two bear attacks in Squamish Estuary prompt immediate closure

Trail network closed until further notice to give space to bears and ensure public safety

The Squamish Estuary trail network (Wildlife Management Area) has been closed following two separate surprise attacks involving individuals and a sow with a cub this morning.

The area is currently being investigated by the Conservation Officer Service and barricades and signage have been placed at all entrances to keep the public from entering. The public is asked to respect the closure for their own safety. The closure will be in place until further notice.
Further information will be shared as more details are available.
Please continue to report any wildlife sightings or encounters to the Conservation Officer Service Hotline at 1.877.952.7277.
