Wildlife Alert - Wolves and Coyotes Active in Ray Peters Trail Network

The District of Squamish, Conservation Officer Service and WildSafeBC are issuing a Wildlife Alert due to coyote and wolf activity within the Ray Peters Trail network in Brackendale.

Wolves are actively hunting within the trail network and there have been sightings of coyotes and pups within the area. Dogs are prey for coyotes and wolves. Dogs have been stalked recently in the area, and there are concerns that injuries may result.

While there is no reason to believe that people are at risk, trail users should use extra caution in the area and avoid this area entirely if with dogs.

Wolves have a large hunting ground therefore caution should be exercised at all entrance points and within the entire Ray Peters network. Please refer to the attached map for reference.

Signs will be posted within the area. Stay tuned for updates.
