Valleycliffe Watermain Replacement

The replacement of the Valleycliffe watermain is complete.

Valleycliffe residents may experience a slight drop in water pressure on Wednesday, October 9 for up to 6 hours while contractors disable the old watermain at the corner of Plateau and Westway to connect to the new line. No water outages are expected. Please also watch out for single lane alternating traffic at this intersection during the work.

Thank you to all the Valleycliffe residents and businesses for your patience and respect of the work zone throughout this time!

Project Purpose

The District of Squamish will be replacing the current large diameter watermain that supplies the distribution systems of Lower Valleycliffe and Hospital Hill.

Benefits of replacing the outdated watermain include better and more reliable water pressure and decreased chances of disruptions of water supply due to pipe failure. A new pipe will also yield better quality drinking water and decrease the loss of potable water due to pipe leaks.

Neighbourhood Impact

The project will begin at the west end of Westway and move east and will involve at minimum:

  • Single lane alternating traffic on Westway Avenue within the immediate construction zone, throughout the project timeline.
  • Temporary trail and park closures.
